Sid Barret of Pink Floyd is dead

  • Jul 27, 2006
  • Post a comment

It was revealed today that psychedelic legend and Pink Floyd founding member Syd Barrett passed away (July 7th) from symptoms arising from diabetes.
He was 60.

Barrett rose to fame as a founding member of Pink Floyd, and was a major influence in their early psychedelic sound.
Barrett played guitar on 1967's Piper At The Gates Of Dawn and A Saucer Of Secrets in 1968, before his increasingly erratic behavior, due to his copious LSD consumption, forced the band to replace him with school friend Dave Gilmour.

Barrett subsequently suffered a drug-induced nervous breakdown, completing two albums, The Madcap Laughs and Barrett in 1970.
Subsequent attempts to return to the spotlight proved fruitless and Barrett returned to his hometown of Cambridge where he lived out his days in his mother's house.

Pink Floyd, however, went on to enjoy massive success, with their album "Dark Side Of The Moon" becoming one of the biggest selling albums of all time.
The group's 1975 album "Wish You Were Here" is dedicated to Syd.

Here is Shine On You Crazy Diamond in tribute to him

My son

  • Jul 25, 2006
  • Post a comment

My son is 4 years old this August and was born 3 month premature at around 6 months old he contracted Meningitis but recovered well,  A month or so later he was diagnosed with Epilepsy and once again made a full recovery, then a few months later my wife and myself was told he has Spastic Cerebral Palsy.

So after a hard first year we began to live a semi normal life.  My son learnt to talk, walk, hear and see all of which we was told he could never be able to do, then 2 weeks ago after talking to his consultant we was told he may have epilepsy again.  This was devistating news but it wasnt to end there as 4 days later i was woken to my son have a full blow fit right next to me in bed,  this went on for about 30 mins and as i am sure you can all guess it was a hospital trip, it turn out he may have complex partial seizures which is not a good thing to have.

That all for now but he is having a hip x-ray on Wednesday so will post an update then.
